Exceedingly Rare 4 X 3 1/8" photo card of the NHA All Stars featuring Left to Right: Hamby Shore, Cyclone Taylor, Paddy Moran, Jack MacDonald, Skene Ronan, Odie Cleghorn, Jack Darragh and Sprague Cleghorn.
This photo card originated with the Jack Darragh family estate collection that came onto the market several years ago and was pieced out. This particular photo may have been taken by Art Ross and he is the only player missing from the photo and I have another photo that has Art Ross and is missing Cyclone Taylor who likely took that photo.
The 1911-12 NHA All Stars or otherwise known as the Art Ross All Stars travelled to Vancouver, B.C. to play three exhibition games against the Pacific Coast Hockey League All Stars three games from April 2-6, 1912. The group of players of both teams actually divided themselves into Eastern and Western All Star teams. The group of players in this photo were representative of the Eastern All Star team.
The players are pictured on the back of a rail car. A classic image of the team as this was their means of transportation when travelling to play games.
This is very likely the only surviving photo of its kind as they would likely have only been in the possession of the players and their families.
