1920's CCM Hockey Equipment Catalogue with Reference to Kenesky Patented Goalie Pads
Emil "Pops" Kenesky is a legend in the annals of Goalie pads and gloves. He was originally a harness maker and then started creating sports equipment. He had a special request from the coach of the 1924 NHL Hamilton Tigers manager to make pads for their goalie Jake Forbes. His goalie pads became the gold standard for all the NHL goalies for decades with all the Hall of Fame goalies of the 1940's, 50's and 60's wearing his leg pads. This catalogue features a wide variety of hockey equipment available through CCM including the top of the line "Kenesky" patented goalie pad. This is likely one of the earliest catalogued references to the Kenesky goalie pad.
This catalogue is missing its first four pages but there was a newspaper clipping inside from 1929 which gives me the impression it was produced in the late1920's or early 1930's.
This catalogue was discovered as part of a major collection of artifacts pertaining to the office and hockey career of Ken MacKenzie, GM and Coach of the professional Edmonton Eskimo Hockey Club of the 1920's.
