Fantastic original hand written expense sheet signed by Hall of Fame player, Russell "Barney" Stanley.
This original expense sheet is handwritten on a 5 X 7 note sheet. Dated April 2, 1925 it lists the expenses related to a trip to Vancouver and other destinations in Western Canada. I would assume that this trip to Vancouver was in relation to the Stanley Cup Final played in Vancouver between the eventual Champion, Victoria Cougars and Montreal Canadiens from March 21 to 30, 1925.
The Expense Sheet is noted (Expenses) Eskimo Hockey Club at the top with the first notation "To Vancouver and return 6.00"
I do not know of another such handwritten expense sheet signed by a Hockey Hall of Famer that has ever surfaced. Barney Stanley played for the Edmonton Eskimos in the 1919-20, 24-25 and 25-26 seasons. He was named to the Hall of Fame in 1962 and inducted in 1963.
This artifact was discovered as part of a major collection of documents, newspapers, contracts, photos and other correspondence related pertaining to the career and office of Ken MacKenzie, GM and Coach of the Edmonton Dominions 1913-14 and Edmonton Eskimos Professional Hockey Club 1921-25.
I have included an image of Barney Stanley while a member of the Edmonton Eskimos 1924-26.
