1961-63 Montreal Jr. Canadiens
#3 Jacques Laperriere / Don Fedun
Game Worn Jersey
This all wool jersey features a creamy white base with red and blue striping. This style of jersey is photo matched to the 1961-62 and 1962-63 seasons. The team would go to a different style of white jersey for the 1963-64 season and on. Based on the wear on this jersey I conclude that it was then handed down to another team following the 1962-63 season with the Jr. Canadiens. There were many teams with the "Canadiens" moniker in this era in Canada, and I have not been able to determine exactly where the jersey did go following it's time with the 1961-63 Montreal Jr. Canadiens.
Jacques Laperriere wore #3 with the team in 1961-62. He was the Captain and photo evidence shows him with the Captain "C" on his left chest. A very faint outline is visible where the "C" had previously been sewn. Don Fedun wore #3 the following season. The C is removed and there is a photo match to a repair in his upper right chest at the intersection of the shoulder yoke.
The "A" that is currently on the jersey, would not have been sewn on during its time with the Montreal Jr. Canadiens, but rather while is was used with a subsequent team.
The jersey shows heavy game wear in the form of multiple repairs, pilling, abrasions and some laundering bleed in the lower sleeve from the blue cuff. The jersey remains in striking condition, however, with tremendous eye appeal, fabulous felt crest on front and #3 on back, and a "two eylet per side" tie down style collar.
This jersey will come with a comprehensive and detailed Letter of Authenticity from Global Vintage Sports Memorabilia Inc.
