1965-66 Oklahoma City Blazers # 17 Skip Krake
Game Worn Jersey - Worn During Inaugural Season and Championship Season of 1965-66
This is the only known example of a 1965-66 Oklahoma City Blazers jersey that I have ever seen. Game Worn jerseys from the 1960's are some of the most difficult in the hobby to acquire. Whether they be NHL, AHL, WHL, CHL, CPHL or IHL. They seem to be most elusive.
This is one for the books and a personal favourite in the collection. Skip Krake was born October 14th, 1943 in my birth town of North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He is one of several players from North Battleford to go on to play in the NHL and most notably with the Boston Bruins. My mother, Kathleen Martell (Milnthorp), and family would watch Skip play hockey while he was growing through the ranks in North Battleford. I love hockey jerseys that tell a story. And this is especially so, with the connection to my Mom's childhood and my birthplace.
This jersey will have a special spot in the Minor League category of the National Canadian Hockey Museum collection.
Many thanks to Tom B. for providing me with the opportunity to add this to the collection.
