Archie Briden was a veteran of the NHA Toronto Blueshirts 1916-17, PCHA Seattle Metropolitans 1921-24, PCHA Victoria Cougars 1923-24, WCHL Edmonton Eskimos 1924-25, WCHL Calgary Tigers 1925-26, NHL Boston Bruins and Detroit Cougars 1926-27.

Roy Rickey was a Stanley Cup Champion with the 1917 Seattle Metropolitans. He played one game in 1924-25 with the Edmonton Eskimos. The WCHL President E.L. Richardson letter indicates he is providing this copy of the contract to Eskimo GM Ken MacKenzie.

HHOF Member, Barney Stanley played with the Vancouver Millionaires from 1914-1919 winning the Stanley Cup in 1915. He played 5 seasons with the WCHL Calgary Tigers, Regina Capitals and Edmonton Eskimos then the NHL Chicago Black Hawks for 1 game in 1927

Johnny Shepard, a prolific scorer, played 4 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos before going to the NHL Detroit Cougars, NY Americans, Boston Bruins and the 1933-34 Stanley Cup Champion, Chicago Blackhawks. He played a total of 308 NHL games.

1915-16 ALLAN CUP CHAMPION, John Morrison played 4 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos before playing one season with the NHL New York Americans in 1925-26. Included is a letter from WCHL President indicating he is providing these copies to GM Ken MacKenzie

This is the first pro contract in the career of Herb Stuart. He would play two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos before playing one season with the 1926-27 NHL Expansion Detroit Cougars.

Rube Brandow got his start with the 1918-19 Allan Cup Finalist, Selkirk Fishermen. He spent 3 seasons in the WCHL with: Calgary Tigers, Saskatoon Crescents and Edmonton Eskimos. Traded to Edmonton Jan. 1923 for Johnny Matz. Died in auto accident in 1934.

Statistics with Society for International Research have Gillespie playing only the 1921-22 season with Edmonton however, this contract along with the Ken MacKenzie 1922-23 Eskimo program collection show that he played December 15 and 20th, 1922.

Leo Cook started with the ASrHL Taber Chefs in 1911 along with 4 other family members. He played with the Vancouver Millionaires in 1917-18. He played only two games with Edmonton. He was suspended for life in 1929-30 for hitting an official in California

Art Gagne was a star forward in the 1920's and 30's. He led the Eskimos to the 1922-23 to the Stanley Cup Final. He played with the NHL Montreal Canadiens from 1926-29 finishing 3rd in scoring to Morenz and Joliat. Also with Boston, Ottawa and Detroit.

Johnny Matz was born in Casper, Wyoming, USA. He played a long career in Edmonton with a stop in Saskatoon before playing one season with the 1924-25 NHL Montreal Canadiens. He finished his career with the Moose Jaw Maroons of the PrHL.

This contract is not specified to a particular team but is stamp dated as "starting December 1st: And ending March 15th or until after Playoff" The contract is signed with an original Johnny Matz signature. Matz became a member of the 1924 Mtl Canadiens

Ty Arbour played 3 seasons with the 1920's WCHL Edmonton Eskimos and 2 seasons with the Vancouver Maroons. Then on to the NHL Pittsburgh Pirates 1926-28 and Chicago Black Hawks 1928-31. He finished his pro career with the NWHL Edmonton Eskimos in 1933-34

Hal Winkler was a prominent goaltender in this era. He led the Eskimos Hockey Club to the Stanley Cup Final thi.s 1922-23 season. He would go on to play in the NHl for the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins.

Buck Grant played with the Edmonton and Calgary based hockey clubs from 1911 through 1927. Including the Edmonton Capitals,1914 Edmonton Hustlers, Edmonton Borden Bearcats, Edmonton Dominions. He also played for the 1921-22 WCHL Saskatoon/Moose Jaw Sheiks

March 1922 letter on WCHL letterhead to inform of Meeting in Regina, Saskatchewan and to also watch the Regina Capitals vs the Vancouver Millionaires WCHL vs PCHA Final. And 1924 letter making reference to Frank Patrick. On Calgary Exhibition letterhead.

These two October, 1921 letters reveal that the Alberta Hockey League would temporarily call itself the Big Five Hockey League before eventually calling itself the WCHL. Also a note that the Duke Keats contract would be assumed at $1200.00

1914 letter to Ken MacKenzie of c/o the GOUARD HOCKEY CLUB. Indicates that Ken MacKenzie remained involved in hockey following his duties with the Edmonton Dominions of 1913-14. Letter invites MacKenzie to consider the company's Big League Hockey Stick

Dec. 26, 1921 Letter to Mr. MacKenzie and Mr. Keats, Eskimo Hockey Club .Government House letter indicates that Lieutenant Governor (Robert George Brett 1915-25 - photo attached) will be pleased to attend as many games as he can. Signed by Wm. Thompson.
