Circa 1948-51 USHL Tulsa Ice Oilers
# 6 Nick Knott/Bud Poile Game Worn Jersey
This style of jersey was worn by the USHL Tulsa Ice Oilers from 1948-51. Nick Knott wore # 6 for the 1948-49 and 1949-50 seasons while Hall of Famer, Bud Poile wore the # 6 for the 1950-51 season. The team photos attached are in chronological order and show the number 6 being worn by these two in the respective seasons. Nick Knott wore a Captain C during his seasons with # 6 however some images have been found with him not wearing the Captain C. I do note that the number on the front appears to be a bit lower on the front in those jerseys. Of note is the team photo with Bud Poile in the center bottom row in the # 6. The position of the number appears to match up to this jersey and there is a slight tilt to the number that also matches up.
The jersey shows heavy washing with some fading to the numbers and jersey. There appears to be blood stains on the front. Also there appears to be extensive moth damage to the wool collar. There are no holes on the jersey itself.
The jersey is made of a dureen (cotton/rayon blend) material with double twill numbers front and back and the "T" crest on each upper arm. The numbers and letters were originally a gold over black twill. The original tag is sewn to the outer front hem and reads " Buck's Sporting Goods OKLA CITY - TULSA DISTRIBUTORS, Athletic SAND Knitwear Sand Knitting Mills Co. Chicago, S. Ill"
The jersey looks very similar to those worn by the NHL Boston Bruins but they were not handed down from the team.
