GAME WORN JERSEY - PHOTO MATCHED
This wool constructed jersey is red with white and black trim. Size 44 tag is sewn into the back inner collar. Double twill numbers are sewn to the front and back. The sleeve patch has been removed.
George McAvoy played 60 regular season games and all 9 playoff games for the AHL Providence Reds, wearing # 12 en route to their 1955-56 Calder Championship. he had just won the 1955 World Hockey Championship with the Penticton Vees (Team Canada). He was then signed by the NHL Montreal Canadiens and played 4 games in the 1954-55 season.
The jersey shows solid wear in the form of small un-repaired holes to the arms should and body, which do not take away from the jersey's overall eye appeal. Heavy pilling throughout the interior and on the outer sleeves from glove wear. Heavy board burns and slash marks. Sweat stains and equipment stains. Most notable on the # 12's.
