1976-77 NHL DETROIT RED WINGS # 28 REED LARSON
GAME WORN JERSEY
ROOKIE SEASON
This Wilson dureen knit jersey was worn by United States Hockey Hall of Fame player, Reed Larson during his NHL Rookie campaign of 1976-77. The Wilson size 48 tag resides in the inner collar. The chest measures to 24". Round style collar and reverse style crest (of which the Red Wings began using at the start of the 1973-74 season - the crest that used to be used on the red jerseys started to be used on the whites, and visa versa). There is evidence of a name plate removal from TV games.
The game use is solid, consisting of 5 team repairs, multiple stick marks, heavy board burns, pilling and equipment stains.
The Detroit Red Wings wore Rawlings dureen jerseys from 1973-74 through the 1975-76 season. Also in the 1975-76 season the team wore a 50th anniversary patch on the shoulder. There is no evidence of a previous patch on this jersey. They then wore Wilson dureens in this 1976-77 season and followed up with a Stall and Dean mesh jersey beginning in the 1977-78 season. As a result Reed Larson would be the only player to have worn this jersey. It could also have been kept with the team for subsequent training camps and/or practice.
Reed Larson played a total of 8 home games in the white jersey and 6 away games in the red. A detailed list of all the games he played will be included in the 5 page Letter of Authenticity provided by Global Vintage Sports Memorabilia Inc.
